As surfers, we share a unique and intimate connection to the ocean and its beaches.
We come to know the lineup were we live: How the coastline and the bottom shapes the waves… What swell direction works best where… We pay close attention to tides and winds and weather and the moon…
For many, our local lineup is kinda like a second home: A place we love, a place where people gather, a community of like-minded individuals that are dedicated to the lifelong challenge of navigating the ocean’s waves, and conserving her waters & coastlines for the next generations to enjoy…
And this isn’t necessarily just about those of us who enjoy riding the ocean’s waves. This community extends far beyond the surfers and includes anyone that’s drawn to the ocean’s calming waters and uniquely beautiful beaches.. We don’t have to be surfers to be conservationists.
Because as human beings, we protect what we love.
And I’m so incredibly grateful to be a part of a community here that truly loves the ocean and is committed to keeping it clean!
THIS SUNDAY! My friend, and real-life mermaid, Halle of TheSaltyMermaid.org is hosting a Community Beach Clean sponsored by The Juice Box down at Domes Beach!
I’ll be leading a gentle, Community Yoga Flow to start off the day and the Beach Clean will follow. There will also be a raffle featuring rad prizes from local businesses that you for sure don’t want to miss.
Find more info and the day’s schedule below! And be sure to register as a volunteer over at TheSaltyMermaid.org/events. This event is FREE and open to everyone!
Hope to see you there.
Looking ahead…
I’m also super excited for La Primavera Pro Longboard Competition & Ocean Festival coming up March 21-22 here in Rincon.
This is one of my favorite events of the year!!! Not only do you get to watch some of the best longboarders from around the world, but there is also a Community Ocean Festival running alongside the event featuring eco-conscious vendors, yoga + wellness workshops, ocean awareness activities, and so much more!!
