Believe it or not… And I’m having a hard time believing this myself… But we are HALFWAY through 2019. Like, we will be getting ready to ring in 2020 in SIX short months. Yea, let that one settle in for a moment…
And to me, the beginning of summer is a notable halfway point through the year and has an oddly similar (same, same but different kinda thing) feeling to the beginning of a new year. Like a new year, summer always feels like a good time for a fresh start. An opportunity to set some new goals, to check a few things off the to-do list, and the perfect season to step into a fresh, new way of being.
So if you feel like the year has been flying by, and especially if you feel like you don’t have the time, I encourage you to find a few minutes over the next few days to pause, sit down, reflect, and write. Because this halfway mark is a perfect and powerful time for checking in. Keep it short, simple, and clear. And to support you, here are two prompts that will help you get right to the point:
Take a moment to reflect over the first half of the year. Look back through your calendar, planner, or photo feed… What moments stick out as being extra awesome?? A big change? A fun adventure? A night out with friends? A memorable surf session??
Write down 5 of your most memorable, special moments (now matter how big or small) from the last six months. Then read them over. Marinate in those feel-good emotions, and take a moment to feel gratitude for those special memories…
Now, you’re looking through the lens of gratitude which places you immediately into an abundance mindset (as opposed to a scarcity mindset). Manifest from this place of gratitude and abundance. Let this next one come from your heart and soul…Now close your eyes and visualize where you want to be, how you want to feel, and what you want to be doing at the end of December 2019 - six months from right now. However that looks for you, I want you to really see it, feel it, and embody the emotions.
Then, write down 3-5 goals (no matter how big or small) that you’d like to accomplish over the next six months. Take a moment to read them over. If you’ve got some extra time or feeling extra clear make notes under these goals breaking them down into smaller steps.
Don’t be afraid to get super detailed and clear IF the details are coming to you. If it’s a little hazy, let that be OK, and allow yourself to be open to receive more details later.
Try and keep your goals somewhere that you’ll see them regularly and look at them often so they stay fresh in your mind. . And do your best to adopt a daily gratitude practice to remind yourself of the blessings & the abundance that surrounds you. As you gain more clarity around your goals, and as your goals shift and transform (which, they likely will), don’t hesitate to keep track of this by writing below your goals or creating a whole new list.
To share, my personal mantra for this second half of the year, which came to me during my Solstice 108, is: confidence, focus, determination, and connection. Those four words kept repeating over and over again in my head while I flowed through my Solstice offering. While I tend to dream big, I find that it’s in the execution of these dreams where I tend to struggle, and I far too often let self-doubt and feelings of being “overwhelmed” stop me in my tracks, sometimes before I’ve even begun. And not to bring up another topic (I don’t want to dive too deep into here in this post because it should be a post in itself), but after recently re-committing to my daily non-negotiables of movement, breath work, and meditation, I was reminded that the only way to achieve what you want is by stepping the f*ck up and doing the work that you need to do in order to get it done.
So here I am, announcing it to myself and whoever is out there reading: I am ready to do the work it takes to achieve my goals.
Are you??
Let’s support each other and hold one another accountable!
Wishing you an amazing rest of the year!!!
